Colors of Africa, Inc. (Project Jambo), a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, is an interactive cultural exchange program which connects children from the USA and other countries with children in Kenya.
Jambo, developed by Sue & Joel Gilbert, began with two hundred elementary and middle school age children in March, 2003. Since that time we've experienced tremendous interest and growth and there are currently more than 2,200 children from the USA and Italy communicating with more than 3,000 Kenyan children. They are actively sharing letters, artwork, music, photos, video, nursery rhymes and folktales. Some are also collecting school supplies and clothing. In addition to elementary and middle schools, the Boys & Girls Club and the Girl Scouts have continued to play an active role.
