Last year, Jambo started its "Coins for Change" project, inviting USA participants to collect pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters to have desks built for kindergarten children at Iltilal Primary School located in the Chuyulu Hills in Kenya and Iviani Elementary in Tsavo.
"Coins for Change" was a huge success, and Jambo invites you to join this worthy project in 2005. How much is a penny, a nickel or a dime worth? It won’t buy an ice cream, a soda or toy. But when you put them all together, their value adds up and amazing things can be done. It costs only $12 - $15 to build a 3-child desk in Kenya. We hope that you will be a part of "Coins for Change". Every child and every cent can make a difference!

The 70 students at Iltilal have class outdoors under a tree (rain or shine). There are no desks or chairs and only rocks and dirt to sit on. The blackboard in the photo above was carved out of the tree, plastered and then spray painted black.
